How Cyclonic Realm handles personal data under UK GDPR. Last updated 1 September 2026.
Cyclonic Realm (“we”, “us”) is the controller for personal data collected through cyclonicrealm.click and through email to [email protected]. Our newsroom is at Doncaster Road, Ackworth, Pontefract WF7 7BX, UK.
What we collect
If you email us or use the briefing form, we receive the name, organisation, email address and message you choose to send. That is the data we need in order to reply, to deliver a commissioned briefing, and to keep a record of the instruction. We do not run a marketing list, and we do not buy contact data.
The site itself sets a local preference when you accept or reject cookies, stored in your browser under the key cyclonicrealm_consent. That preference does not identify you to us. We do not use advertising pixels, social trackers or third-party analytics suites on this site.
Why we process it
Correspondence and briefing delivery are processed as a legitimate interest in running a news service, and — where we have a paid or scoped engagement — as a contract. Legal obligations (for example, tax records on an invoice, or a complaint file) are processed because the law requires it. We do not profile you for advertising.
Where it is kept
Email and files are held on systems administered from the United Kingdom. We do not sell personal data. We share it only with processors who host our email or, if a briefing is invoiced, with our accountant, and only as needed for that task.
How long we keep it
Ordinary correspondence is kept for 24 months after the last reply, unless a longer period is required for a live briefing, a correction file, or the law. Invoices and contract records are kept for six years. You may ask us to delete a message that is not subject to those duties.
Your rights
You may ask for access, correction, erasure, restriction or objection, and you may ask for a copy of data you provided to us. Write to [email protected] with enough detail for us to find the file. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
The only cookie-equivalent we set is the consent preference described above. Rejecting non-essential cookies leaves the site fully readable. Essential operation of the pages does not depend on advertising identifiers, because we do not use them.
